The Government of India has provided MI-17 helicopter facility to Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Jawans who were going on leave.
This facility was provided to avoid IED attacks like Pulwama incident. On February 14, 2019, Pakistan based terror group, Jaish-e-Mohammad targeted a CRPF convoy near Pulwama in South Kashmir and killed 40 CRPF personnel.
Three days per week have been reserved for the transportation of troops and the Jawans will have to inform their units and submit a request at least a day in advance to get the helicopter facility.
