On the second anniversary of Balakot air strike, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh saluted the courage of Indian Air force (IAF).
“On the anniversary of Balakot Air Strikes, I salute the exceptional courage and diligence of the Indian Air Force. The success of Balakot strikes has shown India’s strong will to act against terrorism. We are proud of our Armed Forces who keep India safe and secure,” tweeted Rajnath Singh.
On February 14, 2019, Pakistan based terror group, Jaish-e-Mohammad targeted a CRPF convoy near Pulwama in South Kashmir and killed 40 CRPF personnel.
Days later on February 26, 2019, IAF launched an air strike on a Jaish-e-Mohammad camp in Balakot in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.
On February 27, 2019, Pakistan retaliated causing an Indian warplane to be shot down and its pilot was taken as a prisoner by the Pakistan Military. The pilot was later released on March 1, 2019. India also shot down a Pakistani fighter jet
