New Delhi: The United States has approved the sale of Romeo helicopters to India at the cost of 2.4 billion US dollars. India can enhance its defence forces by receiving 24 MH 60 Romeo Seahawk helicopters from US and the formalities for the sale is underway.
“The proposed sale will provide India the capability to perform anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare missions along with the ability to perform secondary missions including vertical replenishment, search and rescue, and communications relay.” “India will use the enhanced capability as a deterrent to regional threats and to strengthen its homeland defense.” the notification states.
New helicopters will boost the defence sector as the Seahawks are the most sophisticated equipments for anti-submarine warfare, surveillance, anti-surface warfare, combat search and rescue and logistics support. 24 MH 60 R choppers will provide Indian defence forces the strength to perform anti surface as well as anti submarine warfare missions.
