Washington: In a move that could boost the military capability of India manifold, the United States has approved the sale of armed drones and also has offered integrated air and missile defence systems.
US transfer of defence technology to India is consistent with its policy to protect shared interests in the strategically important Indo-Pacific region and to increase militarization.
A senior White House official said, “The United States approved the sale of the armed drones to India. We have offered integrated air and missile defence technology to India.”
There was no word of when the sale took place. India is the first non-treaty partner to be offered a MTCR Category-1 Unmanned Aerial System – the Sea Guardian UAS manufactured by General Atomics.
