Panaji: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the Indian Navy for its significant contributions to maritime security and upholding the nation’s sovereignty. During the inaugural session of the three-day Naval Commanders’ Conference, Singh embarked on a sea voyage to witness the Indian Navy’s powers in executing ‘twin-carrier operations.’
While addressing the 1st Naval Commanders’ Conference of 2024 onboard INS Vikramaditya on Tuesday, he said, “If India’s reputation has increased in the Indian Ocean Region and wider Indo-Pacific, it is due to the bravery and promptness of our Navy. It has become synonymous with credibility in the Indo-Pacific region. The Navy is a reflection of India’s growing stature on the global canvas.”
Singh commended the Indian Navy for its expanding multi-dimensional capabilities in the Indian Ocean region and its leadership role in promoting peace and prosperity across the Indo-Pacific, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR). He particularly praised the Navy’s anti-piracy operations in the Indo-Pacific, which have garnered acclaim worldwide.
During the conference, Singh urged naval commanders to maintain readiness to tackle various challenges, assuring them of the government’s unwavering support. The conference will also witness engagement between the Chief of Defence Staff, alongside the Chiefs of the Indian Army and Indian Air Force, and Naval Commanders to discuss the convergence of the three services in ensuring national security amidst a shared environment of threats.
