National Film Awards 2019 : Best actors Ayushmann Khurana, Vicky Kaushal, Keerthy Suresh; special mention Joju George, Savithri Sreedharan

New Delhi: The much awaited 66th National Film Awards were announced by Rahul Rawail, head of the Jury for feature films, on Friday. The juries presented their reports to Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar. The films Uri, Padmaavat and Andhadhun each picked up several awards each.

The Best Malayalam Film was awarded to ‘Sudani From Nigeria’. And ‘Andhadhun’ bagged the Best Hindi Film.

Vicky Kaushal shared the Best Actor National Film Award this year with Ayushmann Khurrana. While Vicky’s win was for ‘Uri’, Ayushmann’s was for “Andhadhun”. Keerthy Suresh was awarded the Best Actress National Film Award for her performance in ‘Mahanati’, as the legendary actress Savitri.

Actor Joju George has fetched him a special mention at the National Awards for ‘Joseph’, a character he portrayed as a retired police officer. Savithri Sreedharan has also given a special mention at the National Awards for her role of Jameela in ‘Sudani From Nigeria’, the protagonist’s mother, who brings a lot of warmth to her role.

Best Director was bagged by Aditya Dhar for ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’.

Best Cinematography was awarded to MJ Radhakrishnan for ‘Olu’.

“Kammara Sambhavam” won the Best Production Design. Best Action film awarded to ‘KGF’.

‘Padman’ was selected as the Best Film on Social Issues.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali won the Best Music Director for ‘Padmaavat’ while Arijit Singh fetched the Best Male Playback Singer for ‘Padmaavat’ film song, “Binte Dil”. Bindu Malini for Nathicharami song ‘Maayavi Manave’ won the Best Female Playback Singer award.
