New Delhi: Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Prakash Javadekar, announced that Bollywood super star Amitabh Bachan has been selected for the prestigious Dada Sahab Phalke award.
Dada Sahab Phalke award is India’s highest award for cinema and presented at the National Film Awards ceremony. The award comprises of Swarna Kamal medallion, a shawl, and a cash prize of Rs.10 lakh.
Amitabh Bachan has been the most inspiring and versatile actor in Bollywood for decades now. Bachan shot to fame with the movie Zanjeer in 1973 where he portrayed the ‘angry young man’ character. This changed the landscape of the hero concept of Bollywood which was more used to the romantic hero.
Bachan caught the imagination of the youth of the generation and became a superhero to millions of Indians. His charm and acting abilities still enthrall the audience today as it did decades ago.
