Malayalam’s pride Megastar Mammootty has turned 69 today. It’s a celebration time for M-Town and especially all the fans who look up to him as an elegant actor.
Mammootty was born Muhammad Kutty Ismail Panaparambil on 7 September 1951 in Chandiroor in Travancore and raised in the village of Chempu near Vaikom in Kottayam district.
He graduated with a LL.B. from Government Law College, Ernakulam and practiced law for two years in Manjeri.
The three-time national award winner Mammootty, fondly called as Mammooka has a career spanning over four decades and has acted in more than 400 films. He always makes sure to come out of comfort zone to experiment with different characters and dialects.
His major breakthrough came with the commercial success of the 1987 film ‘New Delhi’.
Not only in Malayalam he has exposed his acting skills in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi.
He received several accolades including, three National Film Awards for Best Actor, seven Kerala State Film Awards, and thirteen Filmfare Awards South. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian award Padma Shri for his contributions to the arts.
