1. Scam 1992 – IMDb rating 9.4
Scam I992: The Harshad Mehta story is a SonyLIV Originals crime drama web series directed by Hansal Mehta. The series tell the story of India’s largest economic scam- The Harshad Mehta Scam- in a most thrilling and engaging way. Set in 1980’s and 90’s, the series has Prateek Gandhi, Shreya Dhanwanthary and Anjali barot in lead roles. Without any doubt, the 10 episode series was one of the most liked and perfectly set releases of the year.
2. Ludo – IMDb 7.6
Anurag Basu’s dark comedy Ludo resolves around the lives of four people presented to us in four stories. The film starring Abhishek Bachhan, Inayat Verma, Rajkumar Rao, Sanya Malhotra, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Pearle Maaney, Rohit Saraf, Pankaj Tripati and Fathima Sana Sheikh in lead roles. The movie was perfectly choreographed and was one of the best releases from Bollywood in 2020.
3. Mirzapur S2 – IMDb 8.4
The Amazon Prime series became the talk of the town soon after its release. Created by Puneet Krishna and Karan Anshuman, the series is a two season web release. The series revolves around a shocking incident at a wedding procession that ignites a series of events entangling the lives of two families in the lawless city of Mirzapur.
4. Paava Kadhaigal – IMDb 8.2
Paava Kadhaigal is Tamil-language anthology mini series directed by Sudha Kongara, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Vignesh Sivan and Vetrimaaran. At times dark, at times disturbing, four short films explores stories of those who dare to dream and desire- and those determined to stand their way. The theme explores how pride, honor and sin influences complex the relationships of love.
5. C U Soon – IMDb 7.8
C U Soon is a Malayalam-language computer screen film written and directed by Mahesh Narayan , starring Fahad Faazil, Roshan Mathew and Darshana Rajendran in the lead. It is one the very few movies in Malayalam to be shot and released during the lockdown. The movie was completely shot on iPhone.
6. Paatal Lok – IMDb 7.8
A crime-Drama-thriller series directed by Sudip Sharma and produced by actor Anushka Sharma, was one of the top OTT releases of the year. The series has Jaideep Ahlawat, Neeraj kabi and Ishwak Singh in the lead roles. A down and out cop lands the case of a lifetime when four suspects are nabbed in the assassination attempt of a journalist. The pursuit of it leads him to ‘Paatal Lok’, and to shocking discoveries in the past of the four suspects forms the plot of the series.
7. Soorarai Pottru – IMDb 8.7
A Tamil language film directed by Sudha Kongara is one of the finest movie of Sooriya. The movie which is marked as the actor’s comeback, excels in all the aspects. Based on a true story, Soorarai Pottru tells the story of Maara who sets out to fulfill the common man’s dream to fly. The movie has Sooriya, Aparna Balamurali and Urvashi in lead roles. Undoubtedly, it is one of the best releases of the year.
