New Delhi: Amid the questions and criticisms raised upon the new privacy policies introduced by Whatsapp, the social media platform on Sunday updated its status saying the app does not read the messages and any information shared through the platform.
The status that was updated on Sunday morning consisted of four slides. The slides included the clarification on the new privacy policy of the app.
The status read:
- Whatsapp does not share your contacts with Facebook
- Whatsapp can’t see your shared location
- Whatsapp can’t read or listen to your personal conversations as they are end-to-end encrypted.
- We are committed to your privacy.
Earlier Whatsapp had informed its users that they are updating the privacy policy and will be sharing the information shared through the platform with Facebook. later, the app informed that update will only be for business accounts and that the personal accounts will not be affected after wide criticisms were raised by the users.
