Paris, Jul 6 (UNI): The world’s premier film festival held at Cannes commences today, after it was cancelled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This would be the 74th edition of the festival and is being organised between July 6-July 17.
The festival will be organised under strict sanitary protocols and the Croisette have a vast testing center as a precaution against the virus.
A direct result of the fact that the festival had to cancelled last year means that there would be an abundance of films on offer this year.
In this pandemic scenario, a host of environment-themed movies too are set to feature this year to sensitise people regarding the danger posed by environmental degradation.
Apart from the typically large number of French films, 24 other films are in contention for the Palme d’Or.
