Chennai: The Tamil film industry mourns the loss of one of its beloved comedians, Bonda Mani, who breathed his last at the age of 60. The comedian had been battling health issues for the last one year and succumbed to complications arising from kidney failure.
The well-known comedian Bonda Mani was undergoing treatment due to kidney problems and needed dialysis every month. He suddenly became very sick and fainted at his home in Pozhichalur, near Pallavaram, around 11:30 p.m. on December 23. He was quickly taken to a nearby government hospital; unfortunately, doctors declared his dead after checking him.
Bonda Mani, a native of Sri Lanka, entered the Tamil cinema in 1991 with his debut in the film ‘Pavunnu Pavunuthan,’ directed by K. Bhagyaraj. Despite starting with minor roles, he quickly carved a niche for himself in the industry, earning recognition for his impeccable comic timing and versatile performances.
Throughout his career, Bonda Mani contributed memorable performances to Tamil cinema, featuring in notable films such as ‘Sundhara Travels,’ ‘ Thirumalai ,’ ‘Winner,’ ‘Velayudham,’ ‘Silla’, ‘Waseegara’, ‘Marudhamalai’ and more. His comedic chemistry with fellow actor Vadivelu in various films garnered widespread appreciation. The late comedian’s final appearance on the big screen was in the 2019 film ‘Thanimai’.
