Suman Dabholkar, a drawing teacher at Thane school, has used coronavirus-induced lockdown to get closer to nature and paint images of some prominent personalities on river stones.
He painted images of Lord Vitthal, former president A P J Abdul Kalam, M S Dhoni, actors Sonu Sood, Naseeruddin Shah, Poet Narayan Durve, scientist Albert Einstein and Sachin Tendulkar.
Sonu Sood had also acknowledged Dabholkar’s work in his social media handles.
“Nature is a huge canvas. It gives a lot of lessons and teachings,” said the artist.
Dabholkar was one of the many people who went back to his native place during the lockdown. Kankavli in Sindhudurg district has many picturesque rivers. Dabholkar was mesmerized by the beauty and started drawing cartoons and faces of people using acrylic colours on the river stones.
Dabholkar was also selected from India for the International Art Exhibition in Vietnam in 2019.
