Kozhikkode: A special team from Health Direcorate, Trivandrum reached Kozhikkode to trace out the source of the newly reported Shigella Disease.
The disease was first reported in the Kottapparambu region under the Kozhikkode Corporation. Even though the spread is under control, the authoritiers are yet to trace the source. The team will continue in the area for 4 days and will submit the report to Health department within a week.
Community Medicine Department of the Kozhikkode Medical College is also carrying out a parallel study regarding the spread. The final report of this study will be submitted to the DEO within two days. As per primary reports, the spread is expected to be through water.
Around 300 wells in the region have been chlorinated after the first case was reported.
6 people from the region have been tested positive for Shigella here. One death was also reported last day.
