Valladolid: Lionel Messi out passed football legend Pele and marked himself as the highest
goal scorer for a single club after Barcelona defeated Valladolid on Wednesday (3-0).
Messi set the record by scoring the third goal for Barcelona in the game. The Argentine has now scored a smashing 644 goals, all for Barcelona across 17 seasons and 749 games. This breaks the record of the Brazilian legend. Pele had scored a total of 643 goals in his career.
However, anyone is yet to break the record of Pele scoring 77 goals for his country. The Argentine footballer needs six more to that number. Messi has scored 71 goals for Argentina until now.
