Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said that public should use e-vehicles and should opt for alternative fuel, amid the concerns of rising fuel prices. The pricing of petrol and diesel have been rising steadily for the past several weeks.
“It is time for the country to go for alternative fuel. I am suggesting electricity as a fuel because India has surplus electricity,” said Gadkari.
“The Government is also trying to develop hydrogen fuel cells,” said Gadkari, who is also the Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
“We are making 81 percent of lithium-ion batteries in India. The Ministry has taken the initiative to get alternative for lithium-ion. Ministry is also trying to develop hydrogen fuel cells,” added Nitin Gadkari.
