Amid spike in Coronavirus cases, many States have imposed partial restrictions and warned the public of a lockdown if they do not follow the COVID 19 protocols.
The Central government has asked five states, Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh to ramp up testing and check for new strain of the virus.
In Maharashtra, gatherings have been banned. The state government has also imposed a one-week lockdown in Amravati and night curfews have been imposed in Pune.
The Karnataka Government has not imposed lockdown or night curfews but made it mandatory for passengers coming from Kerala and Maharashtra to submit negative RT-PCR test reports.
On an average, 4000-5000 cases are being reported in Kerala and 5000-6000 in Maharashtra daily.
Kerala Government has refused to impose lockdown again but said that it has deployed 25,000 officials for surveillance in Kerala.
The State Governments have warned the public to follow the protocols, saying the possibility of a lockdown cannot be ruled out if the positive cases continue to rise.
