The Union Cabinet recommended President’s rule in Puducherry, said Union Minister Prakash Javedkar, days after the resignation of Chief Minister V Narayanasamy.
Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayasamy resigned after losing the trust vote in Legislative Assembly and some of the MLAs also left the Government in the recent weeks.
President Ram Nath Kovind has accepted the resignation of Puducherry CM Narayanasamy and his council of ministers.
“Nobody staked a claim to form a Government. Lieutenant Governor has proposed the Assembly suspension citing Article 239 read with Section 51 of UT Act,” Javedkar said.
“Puducherry Assembly will be dissolved and model of conduct will start in a few days and elections will be held thereafter,” he added
