Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Centre’s Jal ShaktiMinsitry has planned to launch ‘Catch the Rain’, a 100-day campaign to promote water conservation in the country. He was addressing this year’s second Mann ki Baat programme.
“We will get the existing rain water harvesting systems repaired, clean up lakes and ponds in villages, remove impediments in the way of water flowing into water sources, thus we shall be able to conserve rainwater to the maximum,” said PM Modi.
“The month of Magh is regarded related especially to rivers, lakes and water sources. For us, water is life, faith too and the flow of development as well. For the conservation of water, we should begin efforts right away. A few days later, just on the 22nd of the month of March, it’s World Water Day,” said the Prime Minister.
