Actor Mithun Chakraborty joined the Bharatiya Janata Party at Brigade Parade Ground in the presence of state party chief Dilip Ghosh.
Earlier, Kailash Vijayvargiya met Mithun Chakraborty at his residence in Belgachia to have a detailed discussion with the actor. Chakraborty was a Rajya Sabha MP for Trinamool Congress (TMC) before resigning. Several TMC leaders joined BJP ahead of the Assembly polls.

West Bengal will see eight-phase election this year. First phase of polling on March 27, second phase of polling on April 1, third phase of polling on April 6, fourth phase of polling on April 10, fifth phase of polling on April 17, sixth phase polling on April 22, seventh phase is on April 26 and final phase polling will be on April 29.
