Trivendra Singh Rawat on Tuesday submitted his resignation to Governor Baby Rani Maurya just days before his government’s fourth anniversary on March 17, 2021.
Thirteen lawmakers in the past few days wrote to the party’s central leadership against Rawat’s work style, accusing him of not listening to them.
“The party gave me a golden opportunity to serve this State for four years. The party has now decided that the opportunity to serve as CM should be given to someone else now, ” Rawat told after submitting resignation in Dehradun.
According to a central BJP leader, Rawat was replaced as an internal party survey showed the BJP was losing ground due to him.
On Saturday, Rawat was called to Dehradun from Gairsain to attend an emergency core committee meeting, in which 45 of the party’s 56 MLAs participated.
