A Zomato Delivery person was arrested by police for assaulting Bengaluru woman. Hitesha Chandranee, a city-based model and makeup artist ordered food on Zomato and complained to the customer care about late delivery.
The delivery man, Kamaraj became violent and punched Hitesha on the nose. She recorded a video of her explaining the entire incident and posted it on Instagram. Hitesha was seen with a bloody nose in the video.
“I did not get my order on time and constantly kept following up with the team and asked them to either give me a free delivery or cancel the order. I was talking to the delivery man from a small slit in the door and asked him to take back the order after which he pushed the door open, grabbed the order which was on the dining table and then punched me,” Chandranee said in the video.
“After and x-ray, doctor told my nose is broken and I have to get a surgery done for the same,” added Hitesha.
She thanked the Karnataka police for taking quick action and arresting the accused.
Zomato reacted to her Twitter post, saying, “We can assure you this is not the experience our delivery universe stands for. Our local representative shall be in touch with you shortly to help you with the police investigation along with assistance on the medical care required.”
“We deeply regret this incident & apologise to Hitesha for this traumatic experience. We are in touch with her and are providing our complete support through the necessary medical care and investigation. Meanwhile, we have delisted the delivery partner from our platform,” Zomato said in a statement.
