The Zomato delivery man, Kamaraj, who has been accused by a Bengaluru woman of assault has filed a complaint against her, at the same police station where she had registered a case against him a few days ago.

Hitesha Chandranee, a city-based model and makeup artist ordered food on Zomato and complained to the customer care about late delivery. She later recorded a video of her explaining the entire incident and accused Kamaraj of punching her nose nd posted it on Instagram. Hitesha was seen with a bloody nose in the video.

The accused man, Kamaraj, was arrested and released on bail and is now under temporary suspension from Zomato with a police case against him.

“After I reached her apartment door, I handed her the food and I was expecting her to pay me (as she had opted for cash on delivery). I also apologised since the delivery was delayed due to traffic and bad roads. But she was very rude from the outset. She asked me ‘Why are you late?’ I replied apologetically, as there were road blocks due to ongoing civic works and there were traffic jams as well. Hitesha took the food and then refused to pay for the order,” said Kamaraj

He added, “Fearing that I will lose payment for the order, I pleaded that she should pay for the order. At this point, she called me a ‘slave’. Zomato support told me that they have cancelled the order from their end based on her request and I asked her to return the food but she did not cooperate. She began abusing me and threw slippers at me.

“I tried to use my hand to shield her blows. When she was trying to push my hand away, she accidentally hit herself with her finger ring on the nose, which led to the bleeding. Anybody who sees her face, will understand that this wouldn’t be created by a punch and I don’t wear any rings. I am working on this job for more than two years and this is the first time that I have had to go through this kind of an ordeal,” said Kamaraj.

The social media users supported Kamaraj after listening to the second side of the story. Meanwhile, Zomato who has temporarily suspended him is still taking care of his expenses while the investigation is going on and also paying for his legal expenses.
