BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh, Ram Swaroop Sharma (62), was found dead at his residence in Delhi today (March 17).
The police are investigating whether it was a case of suicide as he was found hanging in his room. He was taken to the hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. The police said that no suicide note was found from the spot and the exact cause of his death will be ascertained after a post-mortem examination.
A police team was rushed to his residence immediately after Sharma’s personal assistant alerted the police control room around 7.45 am after he did not respond to knocks on his door.
“Shri Ram Swaroop Sharma was a dedicated leader, who was always committed to solving people’s problems. He worked tirelessly for the betterment of society. Pained by his untimely and unfortunate demise. My thoughts are with his family and supporters in this sad hour. Om Shanti,” tweeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
