West Bengal BJP writes to the state’s Chief Electoral Officer complaining against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and demanded action against her for threatening the party leaders, workers and sympathisers.
The state BJP said, “On March 29 while addressing a public rally in Nandigram she openly threatened the BJP leaders, workers and sympathisers to beware after May 2, which is the day of results.”
“Such statements are a threat to peaceful and fair elections. Threatening is a criminal and also an electoral offence. Strong action must be taken against Mamata Banerjee,” the letter read.
Nandigram will witness one of the most interesting contests between Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari along with 30 other Assembly constituencies in the second phase polling on April 1.
