Assam Assembly Elections 2021: 68.10 per cent voter turnout recorded till 3:30pm

Assam registered a voter turnout of 68.10 per cent till 3:30 pm. Voting for 40 seats in the third and final phase of the Assam elections 2021 started at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm today (April 6).

There are 337 candidates in the fray for the 40 constituencies. Altogether 79,19,641 voters of which 40,11,539 are men, 39,07,963 are women and 139 are transgender who will be exercising their franchise in 11,401 polling booths in Assam.

Voters wearing masks were seen queuing up outside polling booths, maintaining social distancing by standing in marked circles across the 12 districts in lower Assam where voting is underway. The voters who did not have masks were provided with one. Disposable plastic glove were also being given to the voters before entering the polling booths.
