The final polling percentage recorded in single phase Assembly Elections in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry ended at 7pm. The voter turnout in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry is 73 per cent, 65.19 per cent and 78.90 per cent respectively.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Left Democratic Front (LDF) and Congress led-United Democratic Front (UDF) competed in the Kerala Assembly Elections in 140 constituencies.
The battle in Tamil Nadu was between the ruling AIADMK-BJP alliance and the coalition of the DMK and Congress. Actor-politician Kamal Haasan’s Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) and the newly-forged alliance between TTV Dhinakaran’s Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) and Asaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) were also in the fray.
In Puducherry, 324 candidates including 35 women were in the fray for 30 seats.
Single phase polling was conducted following COVID-19 health protocol began at 7 AM and the last hour from 6 PM to 7 PM was set aside for COVID-19 patients and those under isolation.
