Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today tested positive for covid-19 and is admitted to AIIMS. AIIMS officials said that Singh had a mild fever in the morning and later tested positive for COVID-19. The doctors are monitoring his condition.
Manmohan Singh,88, had taken both the doses of COVID-19 vaccine. He has received his two vaccine doses (of Covaxin) – the first on March 4 and the second on April 3. The officials said that his condition is stable.
AIIMS is expected to issue a more detailed statement soon.
Earlier Dr Singh had written a letter to PM Modi to allow states to define categories of frontline workers that need to be vaccinated against Covid on priority, even if they are below 45 years of age. In his letter Dr Singh stressed on ramping up the vaccination drive to defeat the virus and also expanding vaccine manufacturing facilities.
