Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take steps to send 50 lakh doses of vaccine to the state to implement vaccination plan.
Thanking the PM for his support and guidance in ensuring smooth vaccination in Kerala so far, the CM had requested for 50 lakh doses of vaccine to implement the vaccination plan.
“We have received only 5.5 lakh doses, due to which we have been constrained to stop on-the-spot registration affecting our effort to deal with the rapid surge. Hence, I request you to allot the balance vaccine doses at the earliest,” the CM said in a letter to the PM.
“We are facing the second wave of Covid-19 during which the number new cases per day is showing substantial spike. The Centre and the States have to work together to crush the rising curve of incidence as we have done til now,” he pointed out.
Welcoming the Centre’s move to make vaccine available to everyone above the age of 18, the CM said “The best way to contain the incidence of Covid-19 is to build herd immunity by administering
preventive vaccine to maximum number of people.”
