Maharashtra on Thursday extended the existing strict COVID restrictions till May 15, in order to stem the spread of virus in the worst pandemic-hit state.
“As the prevalence of Covid-19 virus is on the rise in the state , it is imperative to continue with the emergency measures planned and implemented to effectively control the spread of Covid-19 virus. Therefore, the implementation of emergency plans is done using the powers conferred under Section 2 of the Infectious Diseases Act, 1897 and all the relevant auxiliary provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.Extended till 0700 hours on May 15,” the State Executive Committee said.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced a relief package of Rs 5,476 crore to alleviate the plight of the economically weaker sections of the state.
