Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday greeted the people of Gujarat and Maharashtra on their statehood day and wished them more strength to fight Covid-19 successfully.
Taking to Twitter, he said, ‘Today, Gujarat and Maharashtra mark their Statehood Days. Both states are home to outstanding people, who have made landmark contributions to national growth. May these states fight COVID-19 successfully and may the people of these states be blessed with good health.’
On May 1, 1960, the former state of Bombay was divided on a linguistic basis and states of Maharashtra and Gujarat were formed.
