Thiruvananthapuram: Extremely heavy rain lashes Kerala, disrupting normal lives in many parts of the state. IMD has predicted that heavy rain will continue for some more days. Gusty wind and lightening are likely to occur along with rain, due to the cyclonic circulation that lay over the northern parts of the state and a trough from Tamil Nadu to Madhya Pradesh.
Orange alert sounded in two districts, Kannur and Kasarkode and yellow alert issued for Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts.
Though yellow alert is issued, isolated heavy rain with thunderstorm may occur at the hilly areas, hence people should be vigilant, says weather department. Rain will persist over the same areas that received heavy rain in the previous days. People living in low-lying areas, coastal areas, and regions prone to land slide must be vigilant in the coming days too.
