Lucknow, June 8 (UNI) Keeping up the pace of vaccination, the state of Uttar Pradesh continued to lead India’s vaccination drive with over 33 crore total doses of Covid-19 vaccine administered so far, officials informed on Wednesday. The state continues to carry out its vaccination campaigns in the country since the rollout of the mass immunisation drive along with conducting the highest number of Covid Tests. At least 33.05 crore out of the total 194 crore doses administered in the country are from UP, officials here on Wednesday said.

In addition to its Covid control mechanism, Uttar Pradesh, has tested more than 115,208,267 samples for Covid-19 so far. The testing was particularly ramped up to reach the rural pockets of the state. Strengthening its fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, the Uttar Pradesh government is providing vaccination cover to all children between 12 to 17 years of age in a time-bound manner. So far, over 2,49,77,612 vaccine doses have been administered to children in the age group of 15-17 and over 1,12,09,139 vaccine doses have been administered to children in the age group of 12-14 in the state.

Committed to providing additional protection cover to the people, Uttar Pradesh started administering booster shots (precaution dose) from January 10. Over 32.37 lakh ‘precaution doses’ have been administered in the state so far. In the age category of 15-17, over 98 percent of the children have received at least one dose of the vaccine. While nearly 80 percent in this age category is fully vaccinated.

Aggressive vaccination is an integral part of the comprehensive strategy of the Yogi-led UP government to contain the pandemic, along with adherence to coronavirus- appropriate behaviour.
