New Delhi: Voting to elect members for 16 Rajya Sabha seats began at 9am this morning. Polling is underway for electing members of the Upper House of the Parliament, from the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajastan and Haryana.
Election is held for 57 Rajya Sabha seats, out of which 41 candidates were elected unopposed. These 41 candidates are from Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand and Telengana. Polling is underway for the other 16 seats.
Eminent leaders contest in this election include Union Ministers Piyush Goyal, Nirmala Sitaraman, M P Jayaram Ramesh, Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala and Mukul Vasnik.
The seven hour long polling will conclude at 4 pm and results will be declared at five in the evening once counting is completed.
