J&K: 100 militants killed this year, double than last year

Srinagar, June 13 (UNI) Security forces have shot dead 100 militants in Kashmir this year and Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Taiba has suffered the maximum causalities, officials informed on Monday. Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Vijay Kumar said 71 local and 29 foreigner militants have been killed during the gun battles this year. The IGP said 50 militants were killed during the same period last year.

“100 terrorists (71 local & 29 foreign) killed in different encounters in 5 months & 12 days this year in 2022. 50 terrorists (49 local & 01 foreign) were killed last year in 2021 in the same duration..,” Kumar was quoted in a police tweet. He said LeT has lost 63 men and Jaish-e-Mohammad 24 this year .

Senior security officials said over 60 encounters has taken place across Kashmir this year so far.

This year, they said, security forces have lost 17 men in the line of duty. These include eight policemen, five Army personnel, two CRPF personnel and one from the railway police force.
