UP to hold international Yoga day function at 75,000 places: Yogi

Lucknow, June 16 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the officials to make arrangements for International Yoga Day on June 21 next, officials informed on Thursday.

In his meeting with the officials here on Thursday, CM said Yoga is a priceless gift bestowed by Indian sages to the world, which keeps both body and mind healthy. The theme of the 8th International Day of Yoga this year is ‘Yoga for Humanity’.

He said this year’s Yoga Day being organized in the 75th year of independence, ‘mass yoga practice should be organized at 75,000 places’. “Make sure that people from all 58,000 gram panchayats, 14,000 urban wards join the program. In this way, a massive program should be organized aiming to connect 3.50 crore people with yoga. Live telecast facility should also be made available”, he said.

On the occasion of International Yoga Day being organized under the guidance of Prime Minister, mass yoga exercises would be organized at 75 historical places of the country in which six major places of Uttar Pradesh have been selected.

Preparation for the mega event at six sites selected by the Government of India are Sarnath (Varanasi), Residency (Lucknow), Ayodhya, Kushinagar, Fatehpur Sikri (Agra) and Hastinapur (Meerut)where Union ministers will be present . Apart from this, Raj Bhavan (Lucknow), Triveni Sangam (Prayagraj), Jhansi Fort, Mathura, Maa Vindhyavasini Dham Complex, Shri Gorakhnath Temple Complex Gorakhpur, Naimisharanya (Sitapur), Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham Complex (Varanasi), Bithoor (Kanpur) , Chitrakoot, Shravasti and Akshay Vat Vatika (Muzaffarnagar) would organize the main yoga practice at the places of religious, historical and cultural importance.

CM said there will be one main program in each district and in charge state ministers will be present there.
