Kottayam: BJP President K Surendran has said that those who are protesting against the Agnipath scheme are against the Modi Government and it is being planned by the Left, Jihadi and Urban Nexal organisations. Their intention is to turn the youngsters against the Central Government.
He said the Central Government’s newly announced scheme gives new hope to the Indian youth and the government is not ready to compromise it on any basis. There is an organised force in many parts of the country that often creates unnecessary tensions against the projects implemented by the BJP Government. The same force is protesting behind this scheme also, he added.
K Surendran said the project is being implemented after conducting extensive discussions for the last 2 years. The central government was open for discussions and raised the age limit this year. The Agniveers are eligible for reservations in state and paramilitary forces and if needed , 25 percent of them can continue their military service.
Agnipath is a scheme announced by the Central Government to upgrade the standards of Indian Military Forces across the world. Youngsters who come under the age group of 17.5 to 23 years are eligible to apply for the scheme. As per reports, around 46,000 youngsters will be recruited annually to the Army, Navy and Air force team.
