Srinagar, June 20 (UNI) One militant was killed in an encounter that erupted in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on early Monday, officials said. They said the gun battle erupted at Chatpora area during a cordon and a search operation following an input about the presence of militants.
“As the joint team of forces cordoned the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists opened fire, triggering a gunfight during which one militant was killed” a security official said. “01 terrorist killed. Search going on. Further details shall follow”, a police tweet said.
Police said the joint forces were on the job.
This is the third encounter since Sunday. Two militants each including a Pakistani of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were killed in two ongoing encounters in Kupwara and Kulgam district of J&K on Sunday.
