Thiruvananthapuram: Police have registered case on the death of the patient due to the delay in surgery. The case is taken on the complaint filed by brother of the deceased Suresh. Two doctors, heading neurology and nephrology departments were suspended after a section of people alleged medical negligence. Health Minister Veena George had informed that the suspension was based upon the reports she received .
Suresh, 54 years, a native of Karakkonam, was a chronic renal disease patient. He had been admitted to the medical college hospital on Sunday morning. The kidney was brought from Rajagiri Hospital, Kochi, harvested from a youth who was declared brain dead .
A team from Thiruvananthapuram Medical College went to Rajagiri Hospital and brought the organ to MCH for transplantation. Though the team reached MCH at 5.30 pm, surgery was performed at 9pm. Suresh breathed his last early morning on Monday.
It is alleged that negligence in dealing the situation and lack of coordination among departments at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital led to the patient’s death.
