Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has increased the electricity charges. The revised rate will be valid for one year. The rate has increased to 6.6 percent.
1 rupee and 50 paisa has increased to 1 unit. There will be no rate increase in charges till 40 units and the current rate of tariff will continue until 50 units. Up to 100 units, the cost will be 22 rupees and 50 paisa per month. For those using 101 to 150 units, the price will go up by 25 rupees. With this, those up to 150 units will have to pay an extra 47.50 Rupees per month.
The charges of domestic users will rise to 25 paisa till 150 units.
For 51-100 units it will be Rs 55 per month (formerly: 40). 70 per month for using 101-150 units (formerly: 55). 100 per month for 150-200 units (formerly: 70). It has also increased to Rs 110 per month for 201-250 units (formerly Rs 80). The increase is 40 paisa to 300 units. For those using more than 500 units, the increase is 60 paisa.
There is no hike for 4.6 lakh people in the agriculture sector and small shops have concessions. The endosulfan survivors can continue using free electricity. Electricity tariff will remain free for the distressed. In addition, electricity rates in anganwadis, old age homes and orphanages will remain free and concessions will be also given to households who are suffering from cancer.
