Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamatha Banerjee has marked her strong opposition in the central government’s recently announced  Agnipath scheme.

While addressing the media Mamatha Banerjee said, she has received a letter from the Central Government to give employment to the Agniveers after finishing their 4 years of military service.

She added, the youngsters who are joining the Agnipath scheme are BJP supporters and her government will not give employment to them in the state services.

Meanwhile, The Central Government and many other state governments have already expressed their interest in giving employment to Agniveers in the state services along with various other benefits. The scheme is a great initiative in giving jobs to the youngsters who have interest in joining the nation’s military force.

The force started accepting applications from June 24th. Though several protests erupted in the country against the project, Agnipath received a wide range of acceptance within the first three days.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the Agnipath scheme on14th June . People under the age of 17.5 to 23 can apply for this project. The Centre has announced that 25% of the Agniveers will be posted permanently to the force  after completing four years of service. Remaining 75% will get special preference in the State Public Services.
