Puducherry, June 30 (UNI) National Democratic Alliance (NDA) presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu will visit Puducherry on Saturday next to seek support of the MLAs and MPs here for her candidature, BJP state president V Saminathan said here on Thursday.
Talking to news persons, Saminathan said that she will be accorded a rousing reception here and will meet the NDA legislators here in a private hotel and seek their support. She will also address a meeting there, he said.
Saminathan said during the Vajpayee regime a Muslim was made the president and in the last term a dalit was made the president by the BJP.
Presently, Draupadi Murmu who comes from a poor tribal family has been chosen as the party’s presidential candidate, he said adding that some parties from the opposition including the Biju Janata Dal had extended support to Murmu.
The DMK which is not supporting the candidature of a tribal woman have no right to speak about social justice, he added.
