New Delhi: India calls for protecting the rights of women and children in Afghanistan on the occasion of the 50th Human Rights Council Session.
As a neighbouring country and long-time partner of Afghanistan, India has a role in retaining the consistency and peace of the nation, said ambassador Puneeth Agrawal .
Both India and Afghanistan are culturally and historically connected. India is deeply concerned about the current situations of the nation especially the case of women and children. Their freedom and fundamental rights are being violated and India will protect their rights and help them to retain it, Agrawal added.
Currently, the freedom of opinion is even denied for all citizens, including the children and women.
Condolences were also expressed to all those who died in the recent earthquake that made great loss to the nation.
India has already delivered 27 tonnes of emergency aid to Afghanistan in two flights.
