Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has reported that the state had witnessed a landslide and soil collapse over the railway construction camp that snatched the life of 81 people.
He clarified the news of the disaster to the media and said that 18 dead bodies have been recovered so far. He reached the location to evaluate the rescue operations.
He said this is the most unexpected and regrettable incident in the history of Manipur. 55 people are trapped underground and the search for their dead bodies is on progress.
He clarified that the search must be continued for three more days to recover everyone. This is the third day he is directly evaluating the rescue activities.
Currently, the National Disaster Response Force and the Army are conducting rescue operations in the region.
