New Delhi: The Indian high commission in Canada has issued an order to withdraw the provocative poster of the Hindu goddess Kali in a movie poster by Leena Manimekalai.
“We have received complaints from leaders of the Hindu community in Canada about disrespectful depiction of Hindu Gods on the poster of a film showcased as part of the ‘Under the Tent’ project at the Aga Khan Museum, Toronto. Our Consulate General in Toronto has conveyed these concerns to the organizers of the event” , Says in the order
The posture portrayed the Hindu Goddess Kali smoking a cigarette. Soon after the release of the poster on social media, Manimekalai received warnings from the users to remove it immediately.
“We are also informed that several Hindu groups have approached authorities in Canada to take action. We urge the Canadian authorities and the event organizers to withdraw all such provocative material,” added in the order
The protest against Manimekalai is getting stronger. Two FIRs were registered against the director and imposed sections 153 A and 295 A
