Thiruvananthapuram: Renowned social worker and independence activist Gandhiyan Gopinathan Nair passed away. He breathed his last at NIMS Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. He was on ventilator since a week. He was 100 years.
Gandhiyan P Gopinathan Nair was born on 7 July, 1922 at Neyyatinkara, Thiruvananthapuram. He got attracted to Gandhian ideologies at the very young age itself.
He had associated with ‘Gandhi Smaraka Nidhi’ from the beginning and worked for about sixty years. Gandhiyan Gopinathan Nair served as the President of Mahatma Gandhi’s Sevagram ashram. He participated in Quit India movement and jailed. He always upheld Gandhiyan principles throughout his life.
Gandhiyan Gopinathan Nair had written several articles on Gandhiyan thoughts. The nation honored him with Padmasree in the year 2016.
