Thiruvananthapuram: After 4 years, the Pinarayi Government has announced emergency financial support to the victims who survived the flood in 2019.
The decision was taken following a report by the land revenue commissioner, in which he stated the financial assistance to the flood victims has not been received yet. The fund of 3 crore rupees, allocated for disaster relief, was also left unused by the Government even after years.
Now, after 4 years, the Government decided to provide 10,000 rupees for each 3054 beneficiaries.
The revenue director had already given a detailed report on the damage caused by the flood. The report found that there are a lot of people who did not receive any financial support and about 1 crore rupees allocated for this purpose was not used in the last financial year. In that report, the Revenue Director instructed the government to give the fund to the deserving people.
The Pinarayi Government had given big promises to people that they will help the victims but failed even to provide emergency financial assistance.
