Thiruvananthapuram: The External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has responded to the criticism raised by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan here in Thiruvananthapuram today. He replied as ” I don’t understand as when trying to understand facts and issues of people, why politicizing?”.
“The tour is a part of external affairs policy. This visit is to reach people and to know their interests too. Will inform the details to Prime Minister in person. It’s the responsibility of Union Ministers to meet people so as to get feedback at the ground level about the delivery of benefits under the various Central Government schemes. We call it development. And when talking about development, some others find it politically,” said S Jaishankar.
Pinarayi Vijayan raised harsh criticisms on EAM’s visit to Kerala. CM questioned why the minister reached Kazhakkoottam amidst such busy world affairs?
Union Minister V Muraleedharan responded to CM’s criticism. He told “foreign affairs minister is not the one who stays in foreign country. He has the right to visit Kerala and to evaluate the situation. V Muraleedharan added that the Chief Minister who never cares people in crisis will definitely have trouble when a Union Minister reach people to enquire their well being.
Meanwhile, EAM S Jaishankar, while talking to media on gold smuggling case, responded that proper action will be taken at proper time. Have trust in central agencies and they will reach in appropriate decision, he added. And about Sri Lanka issue, he told the prevailing political and financial crisis is a complicated issue and India is keenly observing the current scenario.
S Jaishankar was on a three day visit to Kerala to check whether benefits of Central Government’s schemes reaching people.
