Thiruvananthapuram: Playback singer G Venugopal has been selected for Balagokulam’s Janmashtami award. The award is presented to personalities for their outstanding contributions, in perception with Lord Sree Krishna. in the field of art, literature or science .
The award, organised by Balasamskara Kendra, under Balagokulam, consists of rupees 50,000, memento and citation. The panel including Sreekumaran Thampi, Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri, Prof. C N Purushothaman and N Hareendran Master has selected G Venugopal for the award. The award will be presented on 12 August at the cultural programme, in connection with Sree Krishna Jayanthi.
This is the twentieth Janmashtami award. Matha Amruthanandamayi Devi, Akkitham, Sugathakumari, YUsafali Kecheri, K B Sreedevi, P Leela, Malliyur Sankaran Namboothiri, Swami Chidananthapuri, Swami Parameswarananda, Artist K K Varrier, Thulasi Kottungal, Ambalappuzha Gopakumar, Vishnunarayanan Namboothiri, S Ramesan Nair, Chemancheri Kunjiraman Nair, P Parameswaran, Madhusoodanan Nair, K S Chithra, K G Jayan, P Narayana Kurup, Suvarna Nalappatt, Sreekumaran Thampi, Prof. Thuravur Viswambharan, Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri, Kalamandalam Gopi are those who have been honoured with Janmashtami award in the previous years.
