Kollam: In a move to hide the grave fault on dealing with monkeypox, the District Collector of Kollam, Kerala has produced a strange instruction. The instruction says not to publish or telecast the press meet held by the collector Afsana Parveen regarding monkeypox. The instruction given through PRD is a suspicious move to cover up the faults of the health department in dealing with monkeypox.
It is found that the root map of the patient was wrongly described. The patient at first went to a private clinic for treatment. And then, as per the information from the DMO office, moved to Kollam, Parippally Medical College. This information too was later found wrong. DMO office failed to collect the primary information of the patient and also, gathering the right details of his root map.
The first particulars on the patient was also incorrect. It was said that the patient had contact only with his mother. But later, it was found that the infected person had close contact with six members of his family including children.
The notice from the PRD instructs journalists of Kollam, says as ” The press meet held by the collector Afsana Parveen today, after the meeting on monkeypox, was only to share the situation. At present, the patient undergoes treatment at Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram. Official details including guidelines regarding this will be produced in the state level. Under this circumstance, media should not give the details of the press meet held by the collector”.
The collector has not responded to the incident yet.
